Our grid is not fit to handle today's levels of power demand, which can cause incredibly expensive and sometimes fatal problems. When EV penetration goes from~ 7% to 70%+, and other parts of the economy are electrified - these problems will intensify. We are building a company that solves power scalability and enables our renewable electric future by deploying significant amounts of connected and intelligent battery storage capacity across the grid. 

We are seeking a world class Software Engineer to join our early team.  As an early employee, you will build and shape the full stack of software for our product line - and have a direct impact on laying the foundation for the industry transition. 

What You’ll Do

• Be responsible for the full lifecycle development of software products from problem discovery to solution delivery. Develop software for the three verticals Base is building:

  • On-device: firmware and software to manage battery and inverter assets

  • Trading interface & price prediction

  • Customer-facing applications: energy management, bill pay, maintenance, etc.

• Architect and develop the full stack of software, from back end to cloud service infrastructure, to front end

• Stand up software development tools for the early team

• Maintain contextual awareness of technical architecture within your engineering group in order to advise and guide design decisions across the group

• Mentor and coach other engineers to be well equipped to step into owning parts of the full software engineering lifecycle

• Define what great looks like with regards to software engineering practices

Qualifications

• Required

  • Bias towards delivery and iteration, in order to discover the right use cases to invest engineering time in

  • Willing to take risks and own the accountability for managing those risks

  • Strong spike in a particular technical area, be it a specific language system design, or prototyping 

  • Has designed, built, delivered useful software to users multiple times

• Preferred

  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar
