General
Base's innovative model allows homeowners to get all the benefits of backup without the high cost for the hardware.
When you switch to Base, you get a home battery for just the cost of installation, which is a fraction of the cost of other backup batteries or generators. We're able to do this because Base's solution allows us to get paid by the grid, rather than by homeowners. When the grid is up and running, the battery discharges energy when it is needed most. This allows the battery to pay for itself over time without the member having to think about it. Savings are passed on to Base members via the battery, low monthly energy bills, and zero service and maintenance costs.
When the grid goes down, the Base member gets exclusive access to the stored energy to protect their home from power outages. On average, the Base battery maintains a 93% state of charge. Base’s outage prediction technology fully protects customers from the vast majority of outages.
Base has two key pricing components:
Upfront Fee: The Base battery is a 20-50 kWh backup system, one of the largest home systems on the market. Comparable backup systems, including installation, cost approximately $10K-30K. With Base, homeowners only pay a one-time installation fee. Base installation fee is typically $3K, but is dependent on zip code and battery size. Base offers 0% interest payment plans.
Monthly Energy Bills: As your energy provider, Base guarantees that its rates will always be below the market average consumption rates. Base’s rates energy charges are dependent on your address. If you have solar, Base offers competitive buyback for all of your overproduction (regardless of whether the solar energy goes into the battery or to the grid) at a rate of real-time wholesale plus 3 ¢/kWh. Send us a copy of your latest energy bill at team@basepowercompany.com, and Base will provide a cost comparison. See Base's latest plans and Electricity Facts Labels (EFLs) here.

Yes, Base serves members with and without solar. Base’s batteries are easy to integrate with solar panels, and the integration does not affect your warranty or require any rewiring of your solar system.
Reasons why solar households choose Base:
- Your home remains powered during an outage.
- Outage protection is extended because your solar panels can continue recharging your battery.
- Base offers a competitive buyback program. You get credit for all of your solar overproduction (whether it goes into the battery or back to the grid) at a rate of real-time wholesale plus 3¢/kWh.
You can install a Base battery now and easily install solar panels later on as well.
On the Base web app, you can:
- Check battery and grid status. Base will notify you of an outage via text and through your member portal.
- See live power usage. Base is the only energy provider that shows instantaneous power with battery telemetry.
- Manage payments. You can update your payment method and view your bills.
- Access your personal referral link. For each member you refer who installs a Base battery, both you and the referred member will receive a $250 Amazon gift card.
